Dr. Mo Ziaei is an internationally recognised and award winning vision correction surgeon, based in Auckland, New Zealand. He is known for delivering exceptional outcomes through a combination of advanced surgical precision and highly personalised care.
Dr Mo is an expert in laser eye surgery, cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, implantable contact lenses (ICL), and corneal surgery. With a track record of over 10,000 successful procedures, his approach is centred on achieving not just clear vision, but long-term visual freedom tailored to each individual. He typically performs around 1000 eye procedures a year and has an exceptional safety track record.
Dr. Mo completed his ophthalmology training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London—one of the world’s leading eye hospitals—in 2014. He achieved the top UK exam result for two of the three speciality exams during his residency and was subsequently awarded the Elizabeth Hunt & Brian Harcourt medals from the UK Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
He subsequently undertook prestigious fellowship training in both London and Auckland, further refining his skills in complex cataract surgery, advanced refractive procedures, and corneal transplantation.
He was awarded his doctoral degree from the University of Auckland for his thesis on Novel Treatment Options for Corneal Disorders, and he now serves as a Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology, contributing to the training of the next generation of eye surgeons.
